Chapter Two: Categories of the Signs of the Hour
The signs of the Hour fall into two categories:
- Minor signs:
These precede the Hour by lengthy periods and consist of ordinarily occurring events, such as the loss of knowledge, the spread of ignorance, the consumption of intoxicants, and competition in erecting tall buildings ... and other similar things. Some of them may occur alongside the major signs or after them.
- Major signs:
These are momentous events that will appear shortly before the Hour begins and are extraordinary in nature, such as the appearance of the Antichrist, the descent of Jesus (peace be upon him), the emergence of Gog and Magog, and the rising of the sun from the west (1).

الفصل الثّاني: أقسام أشراط السّاعة
تنقسم أشراط السّاعة إلى قسمين:
١ - أشراط صغرى:
وهي الّتي تتقدَّم السّاعة بأزمان متطاولة، وتكون من نوع المعتاد؛ كقبض العلم، وظهور الجهل، وشرب الخّمْرِ، والتطاول في البنيان ... ونحوها، وقد يظهر بعضها مصاحبًا للأشراط الكبرى، أو بعدها.
٢ - أشراط كبرى:
وهي الأمور العظام الّتي تظهر قرب قيام السّاعة، وتكون غير معتادة الوقوع؛ كظهور الدجَّال، ونزول عيسى ﵇، وخروج يأجوج ومأجوج، وطلوع الشّمس من مغربها (١).
