Section Four: The Prophet’s Foretelling of Future Matters of the Unseen

The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—foretold what would occur until the advent of the Hour, based on the future matters of the unseen that Allah disclosed to him. The hadiths on this subject are so numerous that they have reached the level of mass transmission in their shared meaning (1).

Among them is the report narrated by Hudhayfa—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: “The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—delivered a sermon to us in which he mentioned everything that would occur until the advent of the Hour, leaving nothing out. Those who retained it retained it, and those who did not remained unaware of it. I would sometimes see something that I had forgotten and then recognize it, just as a man recognizes another man whom he has not seen for some time when he sees him again” (2).

He—may Allah be pleased with him—also said: “The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—informed me of everything that would occur until

المبحث الرّابع: إخبار النّبيّ عن الغُيوب المستقبلة لقد أخبر النّبيّ ﷺ بما يكون إلى قيام السّاعة، وذلك ممّا أطلعه الله عليه من الغُيوب المستقْبَلَة، والأحاديث في هذا الباب كثيرة جدًّا، حتّى بلغت حد التواتر المعنوي (١). فمنها ما رواه حذيفة ﵁؛ قال: "لقد خطبنا النّبيّ ﷺ خطبة ما ترك فيها شيئًا إلى قيام السّاعة إِلَّا ذكره؛ علمه مَنْ علمه، وجهله مَنْ جهله، إن كنتُ لأرى الشيءَ قد نسيتُه، فأعرفُهُ كما يعرِفُ الرَّجلُ الرجلَ إذا غاب عنه فرآه فعرفه" (٢). وقال ﵁: "أخبرني رسول الله ﷺ بما هو كائن إلى أن
