that are authentic and reliably established from the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—(1).
Those who do not accept an individual report in matters of doctrine are therefore compelled to reject many doctrines established through individually transmitted hadiths, including:
— The superiority of our Prophet Muhammad over all the prophets and messengers.
— His supreme intercession at the Gathering.
— His intercession—peace and blessings be upon him—for those among his nation who commit major sins.
— All his miracles apart from the Quran.
— How creation began; the characteristics of the angels and jinn; and the characteristics of Paradise and Hell—all matters not mentioned in the Noble Quran.
— The questioning by Munkar and Nakīr in the grave.
— The squeezing of the deceased in the grave.
— The Bridge, the Basin, and the Balance with its two pans.
— Belief that, while every person is still in the womb, Allah Most High has decreed whether that person will be blessed or wretched, as well as their provision and lifespan.
— The distinctive qualities of the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—which al-Suyūtī compiled in his book al-Khasā’is al-Kubrā (The Supreme Distinctive Qualities), such as his entering Paradise during his lifetime, seeing its inhabitants and what had been prepared there for the God-fearing, and the conversion to Islam of his companion from among the jinn.
