and Ibn Hajar. His reports were also transmitted by the major hadith compilers. Abū Mūsā al-Madīnī said, “It is said that he lived during the pre-Islamic period” (1).
2 — Ibrāhīm ibn Yazīd explicitly stated that he had heard this from his father, Yazīd, as indicated by Muslim’s narration: “…Yūnus narrated to us from Ibrāhīm ibn Yazīd al-Taymī, who, to the best of my knowledge, heard it from his father, from Abū Dharr” (2).
Whenever a trustworthy narrator explicitly states that he heard a report directly, his narration is accepted, as established in the science of hadith terminology (3).
- Faith and repentance are not accepted after the sun rises from the west:
When the sun rises from the west, faith will not be accepted from anyone who was not already a believer, nor will a sinner’s repentance be accepted. This is because the sun’s rising from the west is a tremendous sign that everyone alive at that time will see. The realities will then become manifest to them, and they will witness such horrors that they will be compelled to acknowledge and affirm Allah and His signs. Their ruling will be the same as that of those who behold Allah’s punishment, as Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
“When they saw Our punishment, they said, ‘We believe in Allah alone and disavow all that we used to associate with Him.’ But their faith could not benefit them once they had seen Our punishment. Such has always been Allah’s way with His servants. There and then, the disbelievers became the losers.” [Ghāfir: 84–85].
