That is when the sun rises from the west” (1).
Al-Shawkānī said: “If this interpretation is authentically established as Prophetic through an unimpeachable line of transmission, it must be given precedence and accepted” (2).
B. Evidence from the Purified Sunnah:
The hadiths indicating that the sun will rise from the west are numerous. The following are some of them:

Al-Bukhārī and Muslim narrated from Abū Hurayra—may Allah be pleased with him—that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “The Hour will not come until the sun rises from the west. When it rises and people see it, they will all believe. That is when no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned some good through its faith” (3).

Al-Bukhārī narrated from Abū Hurayra—may Allah be pleased with him—that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “The Hour will not come until two groups fight each other … (he then cited the hadith, which includes the words:) and until the sun rises from the west. When it rises, they will all believe. That is when no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned some good through its faith” (4).
