Chapter Five: The Three Landslides
- Meaning of a landslide:
A place is said to sink when it disappears into the earth and vanishes beneath it (1). Thus Allah says: “And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home” [al-Qasas: 81].
The three landslides that are among the signs of the Hour are mentioned in the hadiths as major signs.
- Evidence from the Pure Sunnah That the Landslides Will Occur:
1 — Hudhayfah ibn Usayd, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “The Hour will not come until you see ten signs ...” Among them, he mentioned: “Three landslides: one in the east, one in the west, and one in the Arabian Peninsula” (2).
2 — Umm Salamah reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: “There will be

الفصل الخامس: الخُسوفات الثّلاثة
* معنى الخسف:
يقال: خسف المكان يخسف خسوفًا إذا ذهب في الأرض، وغاب فيها (١)، ومنه قوله تعالى: ﴿فَخَسَفْنَا بِهِ وَبِدَارِهِ الْأَرْضَ﴾ [القصص: ٨١].
والخسوفات الثّلاثة الّتي هي من أشراط السّاعة جاء ذكرها في الأحاديث ضمن العلّامات الكبرى.
* الأدلَّة من السنَّة المطهَّرَة على ظهور الخسوفات:
١ - عن حذيفة بن أسيد ﵁ أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: "إن السّاعة لن تقوم حتّى تروا عشر آيات ... (فذكر منها:) وثلاثة خسوف: خسف بالمشرق، وخسف بالمغرب، وخسفٌ بجزيرة العرب" (٢).
