beneath its rind. Milk will be blessed (1), so much so that the milk of a single she-camel will suffice for a large group of people, the milk of a single cow will suffice for a tribe, and the milk of a single ewe will suffice for a clan” (2).

Imam Ahmad narrated from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The prophets are paternal half-brothers (3): their mothers differ, but their religion is one. I am the closest of all people to Jesus son of Mary, for there was no prophet between him and me. He will indeed descend ... During his time, Allah will destroy the False Messiah, the Dajjāl, and security will prevail throughout the earth, until lions roam with camels, leopards with cattle, and wolves with sheep, while children play with snakes without being harmed by them” (4).

Imam Muslim narrated from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Allah, Jesus son of Mary will surely descend as a just judge ... He will surely abolish the jizya, and young she-camels (5) will be left abandoned, with no one seeking after them, and rancor and mutual hatred will surely disappear

(2) *Sahīh Muslim*, Book of Tribulations, chapter concerning the Dajjāl, 18/63–70 (with al-Nawawī’s commentary). (3) *Ikhwa li-allāt* (“paternal half-brothers”): *allāt* is pronounced with fatha on the unpointed ayn and a doubled lām. It denotes children who have different mothers but the same father. See *Al-Nihāya fī Gharīb al-Hadīth*, 3/291; *Tafsīr al-Tabarī*, 6/460, with annotations by Mahmūd Shākir and hadith sourcing by Ahmad Shākir. (4) *Musnad Ahmad*, 2/406 (with *Muntakhab al-Kanz* in the margin). Ibn Hajar said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic.” *Fath al-Bārī*, 6/493. (5) *Al-qilās*: pronounced with kasra on the qāf; it is the plural of *qalūs*, pronounced with fatha on the qāf, meaning a young she-camel.=
