before his descent (peace be upon him)—this does not mean that Jesus introduced a new law abrogating the ruling on the jizya. Rather, our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us that the prescription of collecting the jizya was limited by Jesus’s descent. Thus, it was he who clarified its abrogation (1) when he told us: “By Allah, the son of Mary will surely descend as a just judge. He will surely break the cross, kill the swine, and abolish the jizya” (2).

• The Spread of Security and the Manifestation of Blessings During His Time (peace be upon him):

The time of Jesus (peace be upon him) will be an age of security, peace, and prosperity. Allah will send abundant rain; the earth will bring forth its fruits and blessings; wealth will overflow; and rancor, mutual hatred, and envy will disappear.

The lengthy hadith of al-Nawwās ibn Samān—which recounts the Dajjāl, Jesus’s descent, the emergence of Gog and Magog during his time, his supplication against them, and their destruction—contains the following words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “Then Allah will send rain that no mud-brick house or hair tent can keep out. It will wash the earth until it leaves it like a mirror (3). Then the earth will be told, ‘Bring forth your fruit and restore your blessing.’ On that day, a group will eat from a single pomegranate and seek shade
