and the descent of Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon him), from heaven.” (1)
Al-Qādī Iyād said: “The descent of Jesus and his killing of the Dajjal are true and firmly established according to Ahl al-Sunnah, based on the authentic hadiths concerning them. Nothing in reason or revealed law invalidates this, so it must be affirmed.” (2)
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya said: “The Messiah—may Allah bless him and all the other prophets and grant them peace—must descend to earth ... as established in the authentic hadiths. This is why he is in the second heaven, even though he is superior to Joseph, Enoch, and Aaron: he is to descend to earth before the Day of Resurrection, unlike the others. Adam is in the lowest heaven because the souls of his descendants are presented to him.” (3)

Some scholars sought to discern the wisdom behind Jesus (peace be upon him) descending at the end of time rather than any other prophet. They expressed several views on this:
- It is a refutation of the Jews’ claim that they killed Jesus (peace be upon him). Allah Most High will expose their falsehood, and Jesus himself will kill them and their leader, the Dajjal, as previously explained
