two angels. Whenever he lowers his head, droplets fall; whenever he raises it, beads like pearls stream from him. Any disbeliever who catches the scent of his breath will die, and his breath will reach as far as his sight. He will pursue him—that is, he will pursue the Dajjāl—until he catches him at the gate of Ludd and kills him. Then a people whom Allah has protected from him will come to Jesus son of Mary. He will wipe their faces and tell them of their ranks in Paradise.” (1)
- Evidence for His Descent, Peace Be upon Him:
The descent of Jesus, peace be upon him, at the end of time is established in the Quran and the authentic, mass-transmitted Sunnah. It is one of the major signs of the Hour.
A — Evidence for His Descent from the Noble Quran:
1 — Allah Most High says: “When the son of Mary was cited as an example, your people at once raised an uproar over it,” through His words, “And indeed, he is surely a means of knowing the Hour” [al-Zukhruf: 57–61].
These verses concern Jesus, peace be upon him, and conclude with the words of Allah Most High: “And indeed, he is surely a means of knowing the Hour.” That is, the descent of Jesus, peace be upon him, before the Day of Resurrection is a sign that the Hour is near. This is also indicated by the alternate recitation: “And indeed, he is surely a sign of the Hour,” with the letters ayn and lām pronounced with a vowels: “That is, a sign and token of the coming of the Hour. This recitation has been narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās, Mujāhid, and other leading Quranic commentators.” (2)
