Al-Bukhārī also narrated from Ibn Abbās, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “I saw Jesus, Moses, and Abraham. As for Jesus, he was ruddy-complexioned, compactly built, and broad-chested.” (2)
Muslim narrated from Abū Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “I found myself in al-Hijr while Quraysh were questioning me …” (He then related the hadith, which included:) “There was Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him, standing in prayer. Of all people, the one who most closely resembled him was Urwa ibn Masūd al-Thaqafī (3).”

(3) He was the eminent Companion Abū Masūd Urwa ibn Masūd ibn Muattib ibn Mālik al-Thaqafī, may Allah be pleased with him. He embraced Islam after the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, departed from al-Tāif. He played an outstanding role in concluding the Treaty of al-Hudaybiya and was well loved and obeyed by his people, the inhabitants of al-Tāif. When he invited them to Islam, they killed him. After one of their arrows struck him, he was asked, “How do you regard the shedding of your blood?” He replied, “It is an honor with which Allah has honored me and martyrdom that Allah has brought to me. My fate is no different from that of the martyrs who were killed alongside the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, before he departed from you.” The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said of him, “Urwa is like the man mentioned in Sūrat Yā Sīn: he called his people to Allah, and they killed him.”
It has also been said that he was the man intended in the words of Allah: “Why was this Quran not sent down to a great man from one of the two cities?” [al-Zukhruf 43:31].

وروى البخاريّ عن ابن عبّاس ﵄؛ قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "رأيتُ عيسى وموسى وإبراهيم، فأمّا عيسى؛ فأحمر جعدٌ عريضُ الصَّدر" (٢).
وروى مسلمٌ عن أبي هريرة ﵁؛ قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "لقد رأيتَني في الحجر وقريشٌ تسألني ... (فذكر الحديث، وفيه:) وإذا عيسى بن مريم ﵇ قائمٌ يصلّي، أقرب النَّاس به شبهًا عروة ابن مسعود الثقفي (٣) ".

(٣) هو الصحابي الجليل أبو مسعود عروة بن مسعود بن معتب بن مالك الثقفي ﵁، أسلم بعد انصراف النّبيّ ﷺ من الطائف، وكانت له اليد البيضاء في تقرير صلح الحديبية، وكان رجلًا محببًا مطاعًا في قومه أهل الطائف، فلما دعاهم إلى الإسلام؛ قتلوه، ولما أصابه سهم منهم؛ قيل له: ما ترى في دمك؟ قال: كرامة أكرمني الله بها، وشهادة ساقها الله إليَّ، فليس فيَّ إِلَّا ما في الشهداء الذين قُتِلوا رسول الله ﷺ قبل أن يرتحل عنكم، فقال فيه النّبيّ ﷺ: "مثل عروة مثل صاحب ياسين، دعا قومه إلى الله، فقتلوه".
وقيل: إنّه المراد بقوله تعالى: ﴿لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ﴾ [الزخرف: ٣١].
