Al-Hākim narrated from Abū Sa‘īd al-Khudrī, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on Friday will have a light shine for him from one Friday to the next” (1).
There is no doubt that Surah al-Kahf is of tremendous importance. It contains remarkable signs, such as the account of the Companions of the Cave, the account of Moses and al-Khidr, the account of Dhul-Qarnayn and his construction of the mighty barrier against Gog and Magog. It also affirms the resurrection, the rising from the graves, and the blowing of the Trumpet, and identifies those who are the greatest losers in their deeds: those who think they are rightly guided when they are, in fact, lost and blind.
Every Muslim should therefore be diligent in reciting, memorizing, and repeatedly reviewing this surah, especially on the best day upon which the sun has risen: Friday.
- Fleeing from the Dajjāl and Keeping Away from Him
It is best to reside in Mecca or Medina, for it has already been stated that the Dajjāl will not enter the two sacred cities. When the Dajjāl emerges, a Muslim should therefore keep away from him because of the specious claims and extraordinary feats he will possess, which Allah will bring about at his hands as a trial for humankind. A man will come to him believing himself to possess firm faith, yet he will then follow the Dajjāl. We ask Allah to protect us and all Muslims from his tribulation.
