Among these is the report narrated by al-Bukhari, Muslim, and al-Nasā’ī from Aisha, the Prophet’s wife: “The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—used to supplicate in prayer: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Antichrist, the Dajjāl...’”—to the end of the hadith (1).
Al-Bukhari narrated from Musab (2), who said: Sa‘d used to enjoin five things, reporting that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—used to enjoin them... (one of them was:) “I seek refuge in You from the trial of this world (meaning the trial of the Dajjāl)” (3).
“The application of the term ‘this world’ to the Dajjāl indicates that the trial of the Dajjāl is the greatest of the trials that occur in this world” (4).
Muslim narrated from Abū Hurayra—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “When any of you recites the tashahhud, let him seek refuge in Allah from four things, saying: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the Antichrist, the Dajjāl’” (5).
