the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘There is no trial greater than the trial of the Dajjāl.’” (1).
- Protection from the Trial of the Dajjāl:
The Prophet ﷺ instructed his ummah in what would protect it from the trial of the Antichrist, the Dajjāl. He left his ummah upon the clear path, whose night is like its day and from which only one doomed to destruction will deviate. He ﷺ left no good without directing his ummah to it and no evil without warning it against it. Among the evils of which he warned was the trial of the Antichrist, the Dajjāl, for it is the greatest trial that the ummah will face before the Hour. Every prophet warned his people against the one-eyed Dajjāl, but Muhammad ﷺ was distinguished by giving further warnings and admonitions. Allah made many of the Dajjāl’s characteristics known to him so that he could warn his ummah, for the Dajjāl will inevitably appear during the time of this ummah, since it is the last of the nations and Muhammad ﷺ is the Seal of the Prophets.
The following are some of the Prophetic instructions by which the Chosen One ﷺ guided his ummah so that it might be saved from this tremendous trial, from which we ask Almighty Allah to preserve and protect us:
1 — Adhering firmly to Islam, arming oneself with faith, and knowing Allah’s Most Beautiful Names and Attributes, which no one shares with Him. One should know that the Dajjāl is a human being who eats and drinks, whereas Allah Most High is exalted above that; that the Dajjāl is one-eyed, whereas Allah is not one-eyed; and that no one will see his Lord until he dies, whereas people will see the Dajjāl when he emerges—believers and unbelievers alike.
2 — Seeking refuge from the trial of the Dajjāl, especially during prayer. Authentic hadiths have been narrated to this effect:
