that make bodies shudder, so that their conduct in this life may be set aright by following the true religion brought to them by their Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Here are some of these proofs.
A. The first creation
Allah Most High says: “O humanity! If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then surely We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed. (5)” [al-Hajj: 5].
He who is able to create man through several stages is certainly not incapable of creating him again. Indeed, in the judgment of reason, recreating him is easier than creating him the first time. As Allah Most High says: “He cites Us an example and forgets his own creation. He says, ‘Who can give life to decayed bones? (78)’ Say, ‘He who created them the first time will give them life, for He has perfect knowledge of every creation.’” [Yā Sīn: 78–79].
B. Observable cosmic phenomena demonstrating the possibility of resurrection
Allah Most High says: “You see the earth lifeless, but when We send down water upon it, it stirs, swells, and produces every delightful kind of plant. (5) That is because Allah is the Truth, because He gives life to the dead, and because He has power over all things. (6) The Hour is certainly coming—there is no doubt about it—and Allah will resurrect those in the graves.” [al-Hajj: 5–7].
Thus, reviving dead earth with rain and causing vegetation to emerge from it are evidence of the Creator’s power—exalted and sublime is He—to raise the dead and bring about the Hour.
C. Allah’s incomparable power, manifested in creating that which is greater
Allah Most High says: “Is not He who created the heavens and the earth able to create the likes of them? Yes indeed! He is the Supreme Creator, the All-Knowing. (81) His command, whenever He wills something, is only to say to it,
