  • The Trial of the Dajjāl:

The trial of the Dajjāl is the greatest of all trials from the time Allah created Adam until the coming of the Hour. This is because of the extraordinary phenomena Allah will cause to accompany him, which will dazzle minds and leave intellects bewildered.

It is reported that he will have with him a Paradise and a Hellfire: his Paradise will be Hellfire, and his Hellfire will be Paradise. He will also have rivers of water and mountains of bread. He will command the sky to rain, and it will rain, and the earth to bring forth vegetation, and it will do so. The earth’s treasures will follow him, and he will traverse the earth at tremendous speed, like rain driven from behind by the wind ... as well as other extraordinary phenomena.

All of this is established in authentic hadiths.

Among them is the report narrated by Imam Muslim from Hudhayfah—may Allah be pleased with him—who said that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “The Dajjāl is blind in his left eye and has thick hair. He will have with him a Paradise and a Hellfire: his Hellfire will be Paradise, and his Paradise will be Hellfire” (1).

Muslim also narrated from Hudhayfah—may Allah be pleased with him—who said that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “I know better than the Dajjāl himself what he will have with him. He will have two flowing rivers: one will appear to the eye as white water, while the other will appear to the eye as a blazing fire. If anyone encounters him, let him go to the river that he sees as fire, close his eyes, lower his head, and drink from it, for it is cool water” (2).
