5 - Siddīq Hasan (1) said: “The hadiths reported concerning him—that is, the Mahdī—are extremely numerous in their various narrations and reach the level of mass transmission in meaning. They are found in the Sunan and other major Islamic hadith compilations, including the mu'jam and musnad collections” (2).
6 - Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Kattānī (3) said: “In sum, the hadiths concerning the awaited Mahdī are mass-transmitted, as are those concerning the Dajjāl and the descent of our master Jesus, son of Mary—peace be upon him” (4).
- Scholars Who Authored Books on the Mahdī:
In addition to the well-known hadith works, such as the four Sunan collections and the musnads;

(1) He was the eminent scholar Muhammad Siddīq Khān ibn Hasan al-Husaynī al-Bukhārī al-Qannawjī, author of works on Quranic exegesis, hadith, jurisprudence, and legal theory. He settled in Bhopal, married its ruling queen, and died in 1307 AH.

(3) He was Abū Abd Allāh Muhammad ibn Ja‘far ibn Idrīs al-Kattānī al-Hasanī al-Fāsī, a historian and hadith scholar. Born in Fez, he traveled to the Hijaz and Damascus before returning to Morocco. He died in Fez in 1345 AH—may Allah have mercy on him—and authored several works.

٥ - وقال صديق حسن (١): "الأحاديث الواردة فيه - أي: المهدي - على اختلاف رواياتها كثيرة جدًّا، تبلغ حدّ التواتر المعنوي، وهي في السنن وغيرها من دواوين الإسلام من المعاجم والمسانيد" (٢).
٦ - وقال الشّيخ محمَّد بن جعفر الكتاني (٣): "والحاصل أن الأحاديث الواردة في المهدي المنتَظَر متواترة، وكذا الواردة في الدجال، وفي نزول سيدنا عيسى بن مريم ﵉" (٤).

(١) هو العلّامة محمَّد صديق خان بن حسن الحسيني البخاريّ القنوجي، صاحب المصنفات في التفسير والحديث والفقه والأصول، نزل بهوبال، وتزوج بملكتها، وتوفي سنة (١٣٠٧ هـ).
