in the East, a sinking in the West, and a sinking in the Arabian Peninsula.
I first discussed the meaning of the earth sinking, then explained that these three sinkings are among the major signs of the Hour and have not yet occurred. As for the sinkings that have taken place, they were only localized events, which I mentioned among the minor signs of the Hour.
Chapter Six concerns the Smoke. I first cited evidence from the Quran establishing that it will appear. I also mentioned the scholars’ views concerning this Smoke—whether it has already occurred or not—and explained the stronger view. I then cited the evidence from the purified sunnah.
In Chapter Seven, I discussed the sun rising from the west. I first cited the evidence from the Quran, together with some statements of the Quran commentators, and then the evidence from the sunnah. I then addressed Shaykh Muhammad Rashid Rida’s rejection of the hadith of Abu Dharr—may Allah be pleased with him—concerning the sun’s prostration.
I then explained that once the sun rises from the west, neither faith nor repentance will be accepted; rather, deeds will be sealed. I refuted with sound evidence those who maintained otherwise.
In Chapter Eight, I discussed the emergence of the Beast of the Earth. I first cited the evidence from the Quran, followed by the evidence from the noble sunnah. I then discussed where this Beast will emerge.
