“The Hour will not commence … until people vie with one another in constructing buildings.” (1)
The hadith master Ibn Hajar said: “Vying in construction means that everyone who builds a house wants it to be taller than another’s. It may also mean boasting about its adornment and decoration, or it may have a broader meaning. Much of this has already occurred, and it continues to increase.” (2)
This has become clearly evident in the present age: people have vied with one another in construction and boasted about the height, breadth, and ornamentation of their buildings. Indeed, they have gone so far as to construct structures resembling the famous skyscrapers of America and other countries around the world.
21 – A Slave Woman Giving Birth to Her Mistress (3):
In the lengthy hadith of Gabriel, Gabriel said to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—: “And I shall tell you of its signs: when a slave woman gives birth to her mistress.” (4)
