15 – The Spread of Fornication

Among the signs that have already appeared are the prevalence of fornication and its increasing frequency among people. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, foretold that this would be one of the signs of the Hour.

It is established in the two Sahih collections that Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Among the signs of the Hour are…” He mentioned among them: “Fornication will become widespread” (1).

Abū Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Years of deception will come upon the people…” He then narrated the hadith, which includes: “Indecency will become widespread during them” (2).

More serious still is deeming fornication lawful. It is established in the Sahih that Abū Mālik al-Asharī heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: “There will certainly be people in my Ummah who deem fornication and silk lawful” (3).

At the end of time, after the believers have passed away, the most wicked of people will remain, copulating (4)
