Section: Praise of strength and courage and condemnation of incapacity and cowardice
Allah the Exalted says: “And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war” (al-Anfal 60).
He also says concerning the believers: “stern against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves” (al-Fath 29).
And He says: “humble toward the believers, mighty against the disbelievers” (al-Ma’idah 54).
He, Most High, further states: “Do not falter in pursuing the people” (an-Nisa’ 104)—that is, do not grow weak.
And He says: “Do not lose heart nor grieve; you will be the superior ones if you are true believers” (Al-‘Imran 139).
In the two Ṣaḥīḥs (1) it is related that the Prophet ﷺ said: “The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, though there is good in each. Be eager for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not be incapable.”
