(1) This is the Ha’il manuscript. • A second autograph is kept in the Iraq Museum under the title al-Furusiyya al-Muhammadiyya, no. 8822, comprising fifteen folios; it opens with the same words found in the present book—“Praise be to Allah who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth…”—which suggests that it is a fragment of this work. See the Iraqi journal al-Mawrid, 4/1 (p. 183), item 107. • Another copy is preserved in the Asafiyah Library, Hyderabad, India, catalogue 3/436 (no. 769), entitled al-Sabaq wa-l-Rami, attributed to Ibn al-Qayyim; we have not been able to inspect it. • The Koprulu Library in Istanbul holds a copy entitled al-Furusiyya within miscellany no. 1362. After obtaining it and consulting the detailed catalogue prepared by Ramadan Shashan, Jawad Aizki, and Jamil Avikar (2/92–93), it became clear that the work is actually by Ya‘qub ibn Akhi Hizam. This text exists in several other manuscripts, such as al-Azharīya no. 633, the Chester Beatty collection, and elsewhere. • A Taymuriyya copy is housed in Dar al-Kutub al-Misriyya within the Teymur Pasha collection; it was recently published in a critical edition by ‘Adil ibn Sa‘d (see p. 50).
