An arrow that begins to wobble only at the end of its flight does so because the defect affects it only once its momentum has flagged. At the moment of release it possesses the utmost strength and velocity (1), and that power overcomes the flaw; but when its force wanes, the defect becomes apparent. The power of an arrow (2) is like the vigor of the human body: while it dominates the ailment, the latter leaves no trace, yet when the powers (3) weaken and decline toward the end of life, the ailments emerge and their rule prevails.

As for an arrow that leaves the bow unsteady but straightens once it reaches mid-range (4), this occurs for three reasons. The first is that the two siyyat (rigid bow tips) are thin and bent.
