The bow-string may strike the archer’s arm at four points:
- the forearm;
- the wrist joint (the edge of the palm);
- just above the wrist joint;
- the grip.
a) Contact with the forearm stems from three causes:
- the bow is too stiff for the archer’s strength;
- a faulty draw combined with a long reach;
- a sleeve that has not been rolled up.
b) Contact with the wrist joint also has three causes:
- inserting the forearm bone into the bow’s path;
- an overly long string;
- the lower limb of the bow standing too upright because the archer fails to raise it with his lower forearm.
c) When the string strikes beyond the wrist joint there are seven causes (1):
- the two string loops are too wide;
- the palm is excessively fleshy.
