noble one, with the sword; for it is the splendor of your face and the praise that prevails over you, so that you may ride forth for the word of truth and the mien of godliness. Your Law and statutes are attended by the awe of your right hand, your arrows are sharpened, and peoples hurry beneath your sway.’ (1)
No prophet after David ever girded on the sword—before whom nations were humbled and whose ordinances were linked to awe—save our Prophet ﷺ, as he said, ‘I have been helped by awe at a distance of one month’s march.’ (2)
And in the Zabur, describing his community, it says: ‘Let him whom God has chosen rejoice in his nation; He granted him victory and guided the righteous among them with honor. They praise Him upon their beds and magnify Allah with raised voices; in their hands are double-edged swords, that He may take vengeance through them upon the nations who do not worship Him.’
These descriptions fit Muhammad ﷺ and his community exactly. (3)
