In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Editor’s Introduction

“Praise be to Allah, perpetual and everlasting praise, beyond all counting, never ending through eternity—praise such as You ought to receive, such as You deserve, and such as we owe You.”

“O Allah, our Lord, to You belongs all praise for creating us, providing for us, guiding us, teaching us, rescuing us, and relieving our distress… To You belongs all praise for Islam and the Quran, and to You belongs all praise for family, wealth, and well-being… You have humbled our enemy, established our security, united us after division, expanded our provision, and blessed us with well-being. Our Lord, You have given us of all that we have asked You… For all this, abundant praise belongs to You. To You belongs all praise for every blessing You have bestowed upon us, past or present, secretly or openly, individually or collectively, upon the living or the dead, those present or those absent… To You belongs all praise until You are pleased, and to You belongs all praise when You are pleased” (1).

O Allah, “Your light is perfect, and You have guided, so to You belongs all praise. Your forbearance is immense, and You have pardoned, so to You belongs all praise. You have extended Your Hand and given, so to You belongs all praise… Our Lord, Your Face is the noblest of faces, Your standing the greatest, and Your gift the finest and most delightful… You are obeyed, our Lord, and You show appreciation; You are disobeyed, our Lord, and You forgive. You answer those in desperate need, remove affliction, heal the sick, deliver from anguish, forgive sin, accept repentance, and no
