Al-Nasāʾī also states in his Sunan: “Ismāʿīl ibn Masʿūd informed us; Yazīd—meaning Ibn Zurayʿ—narrated to us; he said: Saʿīd related to us, from Qatādah, from Naṣr ibn ʿĀṣim, who reported to them from Mālik ibn al-Huwayrith (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raise his hands when he bowed and when he lifted his head from bowing, until they were level with the tops of his ears.”
Al-Nasāʾī remarked: “Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ is among the most reliable transmitters from Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah.”
He further said: “Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm informed us; Ibn Abī ʿAliyyah narrated to us, from Ibn Abī ʿArūbah, from Qatādah, from Naṣr ibn ʿĀṣim, from Mālik ibn al-Huwayrith (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he entered the prayer, raise his hands, and again when he bowed, and when he lifted his head from bowing, until they were parallel with the tops of his ears.’”
Al-Nasāʾī likewise said: “ʿAlī ibn Ḥujar informed us; Ismāʿīl narrated to us, from Saʿīd, from Qatādah, from Naṣr ibn ʿĀṣim al-Laythī, from Mālik ibn al-Huwayrith (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raise his hands when he pronounced the opening takbīr, when he bowed, and when he raised his head from bowing, until they reached the tops of his ears.’”
Thus three trustworthy imams have transmitted Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah’s report, yet none of them mentioned what ʿAbd al-Aʿlā stated about raising the hands when prostrating or when rising from prostration.
As for the narration of Hishām al-Dustuwāʾī, Ibn Mājah records in his Sunan: “Ḥumayd ibn Masʿadah related to us; Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ narrated to us; Hishām narrated to us, from Qatādah, from Naṣr ibn ʿĀṣim, from Mālik ibn al-Huwayrith (may Allah be pleased with him): that—”
