the truth from your Lord ⦗1⦘, and they cry out:
“What has your Lord said?” They reply, “The truth” ⦗2⦘.
He ⦗3⦘ went on to say: It is also reported from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allah ⦗4⦘, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Anīs, [who said] ⦗5⦘, “I heard the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—say:
‘Allah will gather the servants and will call them in a voice heard by those far away just as it is heard by those near: I am the King, I am the Judge.’” ⦗6⦘
He ⦗7⦘ further said: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Sufyān narrated from ʿAmr, from ʿIkrimah, from Abū Hurayrah, attributing it to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—who said:
“When Allah decrees a matter in heaven, the angels beat their wings in humble submission to His word, sounding like a chain on a smooth stone.” [ʿAlī] ⦗8⦘ added, and another narrator said: “a smooth stone—the sound passes through them” ⦗9⦘—
“until, when the dread is lifted from their hearts, they say, ‘What has your Lord said?’ The one who answers says, ‘The truth; and He is the Most High, the All-Great.’” ⦗10⦘ ⦗11⦘ ⦗1⦘
ʿAlī ⦗12⦘ said: Sufyān also narrated to us, reporting from ʿAmr, from ʿIkrimah, from Abū Hurayrah to this same effect.
