When an uninformed person hears their words he assumes that they are among the people who most revere Allah, yet he does not realize that, through what they say, they are only leading others (1) into misguidance and disbelief.
He also said (2)—after that:
(A clarification of the Jahmiyya’s denial that Allah spoke to Moses—peace be upon our Prophet, upon him, and upon all the prophets) (3).
We said: Why (4) did you deny this?
They replied: “Allah has not spoken and does not speak; rather, He brought something into existence that expressed on behalf of Allah, and He created a sound which was then heard. They further claimed that speech can occur only by means of an internal cavity, a mouth, a tongue, and lips.”
