Muḥriz ibn ʿAwn said:
Muḥammad ibn Yazīd al-Wāsitī declared, “His knowledge⦗1⦘ and His speech stem from Him, and they are not created.”
ʿAbd Allāh⦗2⦘ likewise narrated to us⦗3⦘ through Isḥāq ibn Bahlūl⦗4⦘: “I heard Ibn Abī Uways say, ‘The Quran is the speech of Allah; it is from Allah, and whatever is from Allah is not created.’ ”
Al-Khallāl states in Kitāb al-Sunnah⦗5⦘:
“Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān informed me, saying, ‘I asked Abū ʿAbd Allāh Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal: What do you⦗6⦘ say about the Quran?’ He replied⦗7⦘, ‘Which statement⦗8⦘ are you asking about?’ I said, ‘[I am asking whether it is] the speech of Allah.’ He said, ‘It is the speech of Allah and is not created. Do not hesitate to say that it is uncreated, for the speech of Allah is from Allah, from His very essence; Allah Himself uttered it, and nothing that comes from Allah is created.’ ”
