We affirm for Allah hearing and sight and do not deny them, as did the Muʿtazilah, the Jahmiyyah, and the Khawārij.
We declare that the speech of Allah is uncreated, and that He brings nothing into existence except that He says to it, “Be,” and it is—just as He says,
“Indeed, Our command, when We intend a thing, is only that We say to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” (1) (2)
Nothing occurs on earth—[anything] (3) of good or evil—except by Allah’s will. All things come to be by the will of Allah, and no one can do a thing before Allah does it.
No one can dispense (4) with Allah, nor can we evade His knowledge.
There is no creator but Allah. The deeds of the servants are created by Allah and lie within His power, as He says:
“Allah created you and what you do.” (5)
The servants are incapable of creating anything; rather, they themselves are created, as He says:
“Is there any creator other than Allah?” (6),
and as He says:
“They create nothing, yet they themselves are created.” (7),
and as He says:
“Is He who creates like one who does not create?” (8),
and as He says:
“Were they created out of nothing, or are they the creators?” (9).
Such statements abound throughout the Book of Allah.
