Part Two:
The critical edition.
I make no claim to perfection—for perfection belongs to Allah alone. Every human being is prone to deficiency and shortcoming. It suffices me that I have exerted my utmost effort: if I have been correct, it is by Allah’s grace, success, and assistance; if I have erred, the fault lies with me and with Satan. I seek Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him.
Before closing this introduction, I must record a word of thanks and appreciation to His Eminence Dr. Muhammad Ra’fat Saʿid, the supervisor of this dissertation, for the help he has given me and the observations he has offered. May Allah grant him success; he has been an exemplary guide and supporter, never withholding his time, knowledge, or effort in bringing this research to completion.
I also thank His Eminence Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ʿAbd Allāh Āl al-Shaykh and His Eminence Dr. Sālim ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Dakhīl for undertaking the examination of this dissertation. I pledge that the comments and directions they provide will remain ever before my eyes, and, Allah willing, I shall work to address them.
Allah is the One who grants success and guides to the straight path.
