Allah and the Last Day” (Q 33:21). He, the Exalted, has likewise said, “Say: Allah has spoken the truth, so follow the creed of Abraham, the upright; he was never among the idolaters” (Q 3:95).
As for the author’s claim that the Prophet ﷺ supposedly said—in words to the effect—“People, tidy up your beards and clip your moustaches with scissors, not with your teeth,” the reply is that this is a lie against the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ used to command that beards be left to grow and be allowed their full length, which flatly contradicts shaving them or trimming them down.
He then asserts that the ignorant imagine this to be the only ḥadith that signifies a person’s Islam. The answer is that the statement he quoted is not a ḥadith transmitted from the Prophet ﷺ at all; it is nothing but a fabrication the writer produced out of thin air. Allah the Exalted says, “Only those who do not believe in Allah’s revelations fabricate lies, and they are the liars” (Q 16:105). No one with the slightest measure of reason and faith would credit the report the author invented and attributed to the Prophet ﷺ, much less believe that it somehow epitomizes one’s Islam. All of this is the writer’s reckless conjecture and his rashness in penning whatever his devil prompts him to write.
