Section: The false claim that the beard holds no distinctive meaning in Islam

The author of that spurious article alleged that, in Islam, the beard does not represent anything distinctive for the Muslim.

Our answer is: Quite the opposite. Allowing the beard to grow marks a clear distinction between the Muslim who obeys the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in this matter and the sinners who defy his command by shaving, as well as between Muslims and the Magians who customarily remove their beards. Allah the Exalted says: “So let those who oppose his command beware, lest a trial befall them or a painful punishment” (Q. 24:63).
