and their dominion; nor does it prove the soundness of the Christians’ religion—one that the Messiah, peace be upon him, never instituted, nor does it prove its validity after it was abrogated by the Law brought by Muḥammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in an act of abrogation far more decisive than the partial abrogation of Moses’ Law by the Law of the Messiah, peace be upon him.

This, however, applies only if one insists on calling a time-bound dispensation whose end is unknown an “abrogated” law—for in that case the first messenger did not herald the coming of the second.
But if the earlier prophet actually foretold the later one, and his legislation was expressly limited to the period preceding the latter’s advent, such a transition is not termed abrogation at all. In that sense, neither the Messiah nor Muḥammad—peace and blessings be upon them both—abrogated anything; rather, Moses’ Law remained in force until the coming of the Messiah, and the Messiah’s Law endured until the coming of Muḥammad, peace and blessings be upon them.

As for what is related from Isaiah, quoting the Almighty as saying, “When you appear to the nations,” the Christians cite this and similar prophetic statements, peace be upon them all, to support the doctrine of indwelling that they invented. Yet their claim is baseless, for such wording appears in a variety of passages within the scriptures of the People of the Book, and in none of them is the intention that the very Essence of Allah should dwell in any human being—just as it is mentioned in the Torah that God, Mighty and Majestic,
