The third point:
What they cite from Daniel contains no praise for their religion after it has been abrogated and altered. Rather, it foretells that God will send the Messiah, peace be upon him, with the perennial truth—the same religion with which the earlier messengers were sent, namely the worship of God alone; that the Temple in Jerusalem will be laid waste upon his coming; that the old covenant—meaning the abrogated portions of the Mosaic Law—will pass away; and that he will put an end to the Jews’ sacrifices and offerings.
All this merely indicates the abrogation of the Law of the Torah and the collapse of Jewish dominion. It also affirms that the Messiah came with the truth and that whoever followed him was upon the truth—something about which Muslims do not differ. They unanimously agree that anyone who adhered to what the Messiah commanded is among God’s righteous servants. But whoever introduces a law the Messiah did not bring, or seeks to follow his dispensation after it has been abrogated, is like the Jews whose law God partially abrogated and whose polity He abolished. The same befell the Christians: when God sent Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—He removed their authority from the heart of the earth, from its choicest lands, the very regions where the prophets had been sent, such as al-Shām and Egypt.
