Whereas the religious command is illustrated by His words:
“Indeed, Allah commands you to return trusts to their rightful owners.” (al-Nisa 4:58)
The creational permission is seen in His statement about the sorcerers:
“They could not harm anyone with it except by Allah’s permission.” (al-Baqarah 2:102)
And the religious permission is like His saying:
“We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of glad tidings and a warner, and as one who calls to Allah by His permission and a radiant lamp.” (al-Ahzab 33:45–46)
The creational inscription appears in His words:
“Allah has decreed: ‘I shall surely prevail—I and My messengers.’” (al-Mujadilah 58:21)
and in His saying:
“Say: Nothing will befall us except what Allah has decreed for us.” (al-Tawbah 9:51)
As for the religious inscription, it is exemplified by His words:
“Allah has prescribed for them.” (al-Hashr 59:3)
and His saying:
“Fasting has been prescribed for you, just as it was prescribed for those before you.” (al-Baqarah 2:183)
and His saying:
“Retribution (qisas) has been prescribed for you.” (al-Baqarah 2:178)
