Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-Masīh - Ibn Taimiya - (3/99)

And Allah—exalted be He—says:

“From those who say, ‘We are Christians,’ We took a covenant; but they forgot a portion of what they had been reminded of, so We set enmity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection, and Allah will soon inform them of what they used to do.” [al-Māʾidah 5:14]

Allah—exalted be He—also says, after relating the story of the Messiah, peace be upon him:

“That is Jesus son of Mary—the word of truth about which they dispute.” [Maryam 19:34] (34)

“It is not befitting for Allah to take a son. Glory be to Him! When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” [Maryam 19:35] (35)

“Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him; this is a straight path.” [Maryam 19:36] (36)

“Yet the factions differed among themselves; so woe to those who disbelieved when they witness the dreadful Day.” [Maryam 19:37] (37)

“How clearly they will hear and see on the Day they come to Us! But today the wrongdoers are in manifest error.” [Maryam 19:38]

And He—exalted be He—says:

“Say, O People of the Scripture, do not exaggerate in your religion beyond the truth, and do not follow the desires of a people who went astray before, led many others astray, and themselves strayed far from the straight path.” [al-Māʾidah 5:77]

وَقَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّا نَصَارَى أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَهُمْ فَنَسُوا حَظًّا مِمَّا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَأَغْرَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَسَوْفَ يُنَبِّئُهُمُ اللَّهُ بِمَا كَانُوا يَصْنَعُونَ} [المائدة: ١٤] . وَقَالَ - تَعَالَى -:، لَمَّا قَصَّ قِصَّةَ الْمَسِيحِ - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ -: {ذَلِكَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ قَوْلَ الْحَقِّ الَّذِي فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ} [مريم: ٣٤] (٣٤) {مَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ مِنْ وَلَدٍ سُبْحَانَهُ إِذَا قَضَى أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ} [مريم: ٣٥] (٣٥) {وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَقِيمٌ} [مريم: ٣٦] (٣٦) {فَاخْتَلَفَ الْأَحْزَابُ مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْ فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ مَشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ} [مريم: ٣٧] (٣٧) {أَسْمِعْ بِهِمْ وَأَبْصِرْ يَوْمَ يَأْتُونَنَا لَكِنِ الظَّالِمُونَ الْيَوْمَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ} [مريم: ٣٨] . وَقَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {قُلْ يَاأَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا فِي دِينِكُمْ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا أَهْوَاءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَأَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا وَضَلُّوا عَنْ سَوَاءِ السَّبِيلِ} [المائدة: ٧٧] .
