Section: The Christians’ Exaggeration concerning Jesus, the servant of Allah and His messenger
As for their claim, “We Christians have done none of what the Jews did,” the reply is: unbelief, defiant immorality, and disobedience are not limited to the sins of the Jews. Even if you have not committed their very deeds, within your own words and actions are things—some of them more grievous than the Jews’ unbelief. Though you may be gentler than the Jews and show greater affection, you are nevertheless more ignorant and further astray than they are.
Allah, Exalted be He, says:
“They say, ‘The Most Merciful has taken a son.’” [Maryam 19:88] (88)
“You have indeed brought forth something monstrous.” [Maryam 19:89] (89)
“The heavens are almost torn apart because of it, the earth split asunder, and the mountains collapse in ruin” [Maryam 19:90] (90)
“that they ascribe to the Most Merciful a son.” [Maryam 19:91] (91)
“It is not befitting for the Most Merciful to take a son.” [Maryam 19:92] (92)
“There is none in the heavens or on the earth but will come to the Most Merciful as a servant.” [Maryam 19:93] (93)
“He has enumerated them and counted them precisely,” [Maryam 19:94] (94)
“and each of them will come to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.” [Maryam 19:95]
And He, Exalted be He, also says:
“All praise is due to Allah who sent down the Book to His servant and placed in it no crookedness,” [al-Kahf 18:1] (1)
“an upright Book, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a fine reward,” [al-Kahf 18:2] (2)
“in which they will abide forever,” [al-Kahf 18:3] (3)
“and to warn those who say, ‘Allah has taken a son.’” [al-Kahf 18:4] (4)
“They have no knowledge of it, nor did their forefathers. Grave indeed is the word that comes from their mouths; they speak nothing but a lie.” [al-Kahf 18:5].
