while we, for our part, are distinguished by our sincere devotion to Him, whereas you are not. This makes it clear that the truth is with us, not with you: our deeds are righteous and accepted, whereas your deeds are rejected.

A comparable statement occurs in His words, exalted is He:
“Say, People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you: that we worship none but Allah, associate nothing with Him, and that none of us take one another as lords besides Allah. If they turn away, then say, ‘Bear witness that we are Muslims.’” [3:64]

His instruction to tell them, “Bear witness that we are Muslims,” inherently establishes the proof against them, just as the Messiah—peace be upon him—used to do.
