Likewise, He chose the Holy Spirit—Gabriel, peace be upon him—to bring down the Qur’an to the one He had selected from among humankind: Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
Allah, the Exalted, said:
“Say, ‘Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel—it is he who has brought it down upon your heart, by Allah’s permission, confirming what came before it, and as guidance and glad tidings for the believers.’” (al-Baqarah 2:97)
He, Most High, also said:
“Indeed, it is a revelation from the Lord of all beings; the Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down upon your heart so that you may be one of the warners, in a clear Arabic tongue.” (al-Shuʿarāʾ 26:192-195)
And He, Exalted is He, said:
“When We substitute one sign in place of another—and Allah knows best what He sends down—they say, ‘You are only a fabricator.’ No; most of them do not know. Say, ‘The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord in truth, to make firm those who believe, and as guidance and good news for the Muslims.’” (al-Naḥl 16:101-102)
Thus He has informed us that it was Gabriel who delivered it, calling him “the Trustworthy Spirit” and “the Holy Spirit.”
He also mentioned him in His words:
“Indeed, it is surely the word of a noble messenger, possessed of power, honored by the Lord of the Throne, obeyed there and trustworthy.” (al-Takwīr 81:19-21)
