“Indeed, it is We who have sent down the Reminder, and We will most surely guard it.” (Qur’an 15:9)

Thus, whenever an error finds its way into a Qur’anic commentary, a hadith transmission, or its explanation, Allah appoints within this ummah those who expose the mistake, furnish the evidence for the errant person’s slip, and unmask the fabricator’s lie. For this community will never unite upon misguidance, and a party openly upholding the truth will remain among them until the Hour is established. They are the last of all nations: after them there will be no prophet following their Prophet, and no book after their Book.

Among earlier nations, whenever they altered or distorted revelation, Allah would send a prophet to clarify the matter, commanding and forbidding as required. After Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—no prophet will arise. Yet Allah has guaranteed to preserve the Reminder He revealed and to ensure that this ummah never unanimously embraces error. Rather, in every age He raises scholars of the Qur’an and the religion through whom He safeguards His faith, driving away the distortions of extremists, the fabrications of the misguided, and the misinterpretations of the ignorant.
