Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

according to what Allah has revealed. Just as Allah commanded the community of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—to judge by what He has sent down in the Quran, in which there are both abrogating and abrogated passages, so the very same principle applies to all categories of revealed scriptures.

Allah, Exalted is He, says:

“We have sent down to you the Book in truth, confirming the Scriptures that came before it and as a guardian over them. So judge between them in accordance with what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires, turning away from the truth that has come to you. For each of you We have appointed a law and a method. Had Allah willed, He could have made you one community, but He has tested you in what He has given you, so compete in good works. To Allah you will all return, and He will inform you about the matters over which you used to differ.

And judge between them according to what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires; beware lest they lure you away from even part of what Allah has sent down to you. If they turn away, then know that Allah only intends to afflict them for some of their sins; indeed, many people are defiantly disobedient.

Is it the judgment of the Age of Ignorance that they seek? Who is better than Allah in judgment for a people who are certain?

O you who believe, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies; they are allies of one another. Whoever among you allies himself with them is surely one of them. Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

You will see those in whose hearts is a disease rushing toward them, saying, “We fear that some misfortune may befall us.” But perhaps Allah will bring about victory or a command from Him, and they will become regretful for what they have been hiding within themselves.

Those who believe will say, “Are these the ones who swore by Allah with their strongest oaths that they were with you?” Their deeds have come to naught, and they have become losers.

O you who believe, whoever among you turns back from his religion, Allah will soon bring forth a people He loves and who love Him—humble toward the believers, stern toward the disbelievers, striving in the path of Allah and fearing not the blame of any critic. That is the grace of Allah; He bestows it on whom He wills. Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.

Your only guardian is Allah, His Messenger, and the believers who establish the prayer and give the alms while bowing in humility.

Whoever allies himself with Allah, His Messenger, and the believers—the party of Allah—they are indeed the victorious.” ⦗al-Māʾidah 48-56⦘.

بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ، كَمَا أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَ أُمَّةَ مُحَمَّدٍ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنْ يَحْكُمُوا بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَفِيهِ النَّاسِخُ وَالْمَنْسُوخُ فَهَكَذَا الْقَوْلُ فِي جِنْسِ الْكُتُبِ الْمُنَزَّلَةِ. قَالَ - تَعَالَى -: {وَأَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنْكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَكِنْ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِي مَا آتَاكُمْ فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ - وَأَنِ احْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ وَاحْذَرْهُمْ أَنْ يَفْتِنُوكَ عَنْ بَعْضِ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُصِيبَهُمْ بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنَ النَّاسِ لَفَاسِقُونَ - أَفَحُكْمَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَبْغُونَ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ حُكْمًا لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ - يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى أَوْلِيَاءَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ - فَتَرَى الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ يُسَارِعُونَ فِيهِمْ يَقُولُونَ نَخْشَى أَنْ تُصِيبَنَا دَائِرَةٌ فَعَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ بِالْفَتْحِ أَوْ أَمْرٍ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَيُصْبِحُوا عَلَى مَا أَسَرُّوا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ نَادِمِينَ - وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَهَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ أَقْسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَعَكُمْ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا خَاسِرِينَ - يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَنْ يَرْتَدَّ مِنْكُمْ عَنْ دِينِهِ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِي اللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُ أَذِلَّةٍ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَعِزَّةٍ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ يُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ - إِنَّمَا وَلِيُّكُمُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُمْ رَاكِعُونَ - وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَإِنَّ حِزْبَ اللَّهِ هُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ} [المائدة: ٤٨ - ٥٦] .
