“Do you, then, believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? The recompense of those among you who do that is nothing but disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be returned to the most severe punishment. Allah is not unaware of what you do.” (Qur’an 2:85)

He has explicitly branded the Christians as unbelievers in a number of passages, commanded that jihad be carried out against them, and ruled that whoever does not deem fighting them obligatory—or does not regard it as an act of worship and obedience to Allah—is himself an unbeliever, as has already been noted. If a person who fails to view striving against them as worship is considered a disbeliever by Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—then what, in his judgment, is the state of the Christians themselves?
