—and his blood is lawfully forfeit, as Allah, Exalted is He, says:
“Say, ‘We believe in Allah, and in what has been sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes; and in what Moses and Jesus were given; and in what the other prophets were given from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit. If they believe in the same as you believe, they are rightly guided, but if they turn away they are merely in opposition; Allah will suffice you against them, for He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.’” (Qur’an 2:136)
Allah, the Most High, also says:
“The Messenger has believed in what was sent down to him from his Lord, as have the believers. Each of them believes in Allah, His angels, His books and His messengers; they make no distinction between any of His messengers. They say, ‘We hear and we obey. Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return.’” (Qur’an 2:285)
And He says:
“Righteousness is not that you turn your faces towards the east or the west; rather, true righteousness is to believe in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets…” (Qur’an 2:177)
The term “Book” is a generic designation for every scripture that Allah has revealed; it includes the Torah and the Gospel just as it includes the Qur’an, as in His words:
“Say, ‘I have believed in whatever Book Allah has sent down, and I have been commanded to deal justly between you.’” (Qur’an 42:15)
and His words:
“The Messenger has believed in what was sent down to him from his Lord, as have the believers. Each of them believes in Allah, His angels, His books and His messengers; they make no distinction between any of His messengers.” (Qur’an 2:285)
