Moreover, it is rigorously authenticated in the two Ṣaḥīḥ collections that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said:

“Many men have attained perfection, but of women none attained it except Mary the daughter of ʿImrān and Āsiyah the daughter of Muzāḥim.”

That ḥadīth refers to the women of the nations before us, which shows that the mother of Moses was not among the women who attained such perfection—so how could she have been a prophetess?

As for His words, exalted is He:

“They came with clear proofs, the scriptures, and the illuminating Book.” ⦗Āl ʿImrān: 184⦘

The term “Book” here is a generic noun, as noted earlier; it includes every scripture Allah has sent down. Likewise, He—exalted be He—says:

“And among people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge, without guidance, and without an enlightening Book.” ⦗al-Ḥajj: 8⦘

The phrase “an enlightening Book” is indefinite in the context of negation, therefore it covers every illuminating scripture. Had the Gospel alone been intended, the verse would have said “the enlightening Book.”
