Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

Others step into the very fire itself, swallow its flames, and the blaze continues to flicker over their bodies and hair.

Still others have devils bring them food, or bits of ladan (aromatic resin), or sugar, or saffron, or rose-water; some even receive silver dirhams that the devils have stolen from various places. Among these, there are men who, after scattering the dirhams among the onlookers, find the coins snatched back so that no one can spend them—matters whose full description would take too long. And there are others who, lacking any demonic help, fabricate tricks and stage-managed spectacles.

Thus the unbelievers who corrupt the revealed faiths—whether the religion of the Messiah or the religion of Muhammad, peace be upon them both—stand on the same footing as their fellow heretics.
