The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said in an authentic narration, “Every child is born upon the fiṭrah (the innate, sound nature).” In another wording he stated, “upon this religion; then his parents turn him into a Jew, a Christian, or a Magian—just as livestock give birth to a whole, sound offspring: do you notice any of them born mutilated?”

Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) would then say, “Recite, if you wish: ‘Allah’s original creation upon which He has fashioned mankind’ (al-Rūm 30:30).”
