Section: Proofs of the Truthfulness of the Genuine Prophet

The proofs that establish the truthfulness of a genuine prophet—and expose the mendacity of a false claimant—are exceedingly many. Whoever professes prophethood and is indeed truthful stands among Allah’s noblest creatures and the most perfect of them in knowledge and religion, for none surpass the messengers and prophets of Allah—may His blessings and peace be upon them. Yet some of them are superior to others, as the Exalted says:

“Those messengers—We endowed some of them with greater virtue than others.” ⦗2:253⦘

He also says:

“We have certainly favoured some of the prophets over others.” ⦗17:55⦘

By contrast, a liar who claims prophethood is among the most disbelieving and wicked of Allah’s creation, just as the Exalted declares:

“Who could be more unjust than one who forges a lie against Allah, or says, ‘Revelation has come to me,’ when nothing has been revealed to him, and who says, ‘I will bring down something like what Allah has sent down’?” ⦗6:93⦘.
