Fifth argument:
There is not a single verse in the Qur’an that states that the disciples were messengers of Allah; indeed, the Qur’an does not even explicitly say that He sent them. Rather, in Sūrah Yā-Sīn He says:

“Set forth for them the parable of the people of the town, when the messengers came to it:
when We sent to them two and they rejected them both, so We reinforced them with a third, and they said, ‘We have indeed been sent to you.’
They answered, ‘You are only human beings like ourselves; the All-Merciful has not sent down anything—you are only speaking lies.’
The messengers said, ‘Our Lord knows that we have truly been sent to you,
and our duty is only to convey the message clearly.’
They replied, ‘We take an evil omen from you; if you do not desist, we shall surely stone you, and a painful punishment from us will befall you.’
The messengers said, ‘Your omen is with you. Is it because you have been admonished? No—you are a people given to excess.’
Then from the farthest part of the city a man came running; he said, ‘My people, follow the messengers,
follow those who ask you no recompense and are rightly guided.
Why should I not worship the One who created me, and to Him you will be returned?
Shall I take, apart from Him, gods? If the All-Merciful intends me any harm, their intercession will not help me in the least, nor can they rescue me.
Then I would indeed be in manifest error.
I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me!’
It was said, ‘Enter the Garden.’ He said, ‘Would that my people knew
how my Lord has forgiven me and made me one of the honoured.’
We did not send down upon his people after him any host from heaven, nor was it for Us to do so.
It was but a single Cry, and suddenly they were extinguished.
Alas for the servants! No messenger ever comes to them but that they ridicule him.”
[Ya-Sīn 13–30]

This is the speech of Allah, and nowhere in it is there any mention that those messengers were from among the disciples, nor that the people to whom they were sent believed in them. On the contrary, it tells us that the people to whom those three were sent were struck by a single Cry from Allah, whereupon they were left lifeless.

الْوَجْهُ الْخَامِسُ: أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ آيَةٌ تَنْطِقُ بِأَنَّ الْحَوَارِيِّينَ رُسُلُ اللَّهِ بَلْ وَلَا صَرَّحَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ بِأَنَّهُ أَرْسَلَهُمْ لَكِنْ قَالَ: فِي سُورَةِ يس {وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَثَلًا أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ - إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ مُرْسَلُونَ - قَالُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنْزَلَ الرَّحْمَنُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ - قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ - وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ - قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ - قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ أَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ - وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَى قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ - اتَّبِعُوا مَنْ لَا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ - وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ - أَأَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِنْ يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَنُ بِضُرٍّ لَا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنْقِذُونِ - إِنِّي إِذًا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ - إِنِّي آمَنْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ - قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ يَالَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ - بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ - وَمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى قَوْمِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ جُنْدٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنْزِلِينَ - إِنْ كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ - يَاحَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ مَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ} [يس: ١٣ - ٣٠] . فَهَذَا كَلَامُ اللَّهِ لَيْسَ فِيهِ ذِكْرُ أَنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ كَانُوا مِنَ الْحَوَارِيِّينَ وَلَا أَنَّ الَّذِينَ أُرْسِلُوا إِلَيْهِمْ آمَنُوا بِهِمْ وَفِيهِ أَنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمَ الَّذِينَ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ هَؤُلَاءِ الثَّلَاثَةُ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ.
